Beginning of a New Era

Dear student,

It has definitely been the year of the new century for the 105-year-old School of Business.

Aalto University announced today to move all the main operations, including master’s students, academic personnel and other faculty in Töölö, to Otaniemi. The new facilities of the School of Business are told to be decided in Summer. BScBA Programme continues in Mikkeli.

AYY promotes multidisciplinary studies and students’ encounters from different backgrounds. “I am thrilled that Aalto University is officially claiming its promise to bring everyone together” says Milja Asikainen, the Chair of the Board.

Let’s summarize the Business School community’s academic year 2015-2016. KY Entry from land, sea and air, undergraduate students’ renewed facilities in the U-wing of Undergraduate Center, KYTKY victory in the AYY representative council elections, the end of the property dispute and the latest news have all shaped the future of the business students.

And we have already seen some results. In KY’s updated strategy, one of the core elements is to proactively connect Aalto students with different backgrounds. As a part of the brand development, the representative council of KY is deciding whether to change their name to Aalto University Business Students (in Finnish Aalto-yliopiston kauppatieteiden ylioppilaat, currently Helsingin kauppatieteiden ylioppilaat).

Considering the changes, it is no wonder, why the planning of the new student center with AYY and TF is so important for the business students. The Council discusses AYY’s participation in the project this year.

In my opinion, all this is very inspiring. The strategial projects that I am involved in suggest that Aalto students are ready to be together. Kylteris have gotten a lot of attention in the past few years, and now it is our responsibility to build the new campus and develop AYY to serve all its members.

Big day for Kauppis, even bigger for the strong and unite Aalto community!

Yours sincerely,

Joona Orpana, a business student and member of the board
